Two Sisters was Good Enough

New-to-me SMV find.  Solid, well-made, well-priced, balanced wine.  A few tartarate crystals under the cork for authenticity.  Clear, bright ruby with slightly ambering edges.  Nice, mellow nose bursting with cinnamon spice, lush fruit–but subdued–cedar and pipe tobacco.  Everything is subdued in these wines.  I am not suggesting they are meager or thin, stuff just doesn’t jump out at you.  Entry awash of mellow ripe fruit and a touch of briar.  Acids start to flow in on their own time and tannin with a touch of polish join up at the end.  If the nose wasn’t there, I would mark this wine down.  But it’s all there.  A nicely made, balanced, easy-to-drink wine which will impress n00bs and snobs alike.  Stuff was runnin 120/case last time I was there.  I highly recommend checking out Tres Hermanos.  14-2   ♦♦
