A Clean Neat Spaniard, OMG!

Dark clear ruby with amber edges.  Quite floral, wilted lily grassiness with the typical crianza dollop of mild oak.  A nice mineral high note provides a nicely balanced bouquet with the obvious polish of bottle-time.  The fading fruit-forwardness has the edge taken off of what I suspect was considerably more cloying on release.  Overall, it has settled down into a fairly glycerin-ey style but easy on the nose and even gentler on the mouth.  Ripe and tarry entrance with fruit fading quickly and being over-taken by somewhat bitter–but mild–tannin.  Really a nice little quaffer.  Can’t find too many faults with it: for the price you can do far worse.  This one hesitates a bit in the gamey-funky category upon initial opening but I have tasted far worse for the price.  With a little air, this becomes a fairly full, rich wine which will please New-World-Wonks and contains the acid and meagerness of delicate fruit attractive to Euro-fans.  Purchased at 15degreesC.  14-0 and is an easy ‘recommend’ at  ♦
