Dark dirty brick with wide clear edges. Nice chunk of brett, a little barnyard and oxidized fruit but nowhere near pruney.
This is one of the last in my cellar from a little buying spree I did in 2000 when Cornas was still a problem child, unapproachable and 20-25 dollars a bottle. My how times have changed. Now every hipster-somm is touting thier Cornas and you can’t touch one for less than $50. There was a time where every publication listed Cornas as a dense, untouchable bottle requiring a minimum of 20 years to understand.
In the mouth, fruit faded hard to generous tobacco and wet leather. Dry highnote tannins. With a little air, a fairly enjoyable wine.
