This Syrah Followed Me Home

Deep garnet with pink edges barely hanging on.  Heady forest-floor funk heads mineralific towards stream-bed and uric-tanned leather while the fruit richens and ripens.  There is a definite tropical density to the fruit–liliko’i, or desperately ripe guava.  In the mouth, it disappoints a bit.  You keep searching for something to back up and accentuate the nose but it just isn’t there.  Thin pencil lead and a bit of diet strawberry preserves.  A considerably amount of air seems to free up some fruit, giving the finish a dense burnt texture more classic of Syrah–with ample tannin.
