It Weibels and it Wobbles But It Don’t Fall Down

Clear med garnet.  Nutty, round nose, flat and ripe, with heavy musk and root.  Very simple wine–nothing extemporaneous or overt–no briar or earthiness or barnyard.  No funk.  Clean and simple.  Could be Castle Rock or La Crema or Mark West or any of a number of lower-shelf entry-level Pinot Noirs.   Not going to woo a serious Pinot-person, but not going to turn anyone aside either.  A great value, and sticks straight to the RRV/North Coast pattern.  Nothing instantly indicating “Mendocino” or Anderson Valley as one would expect.  In the mouth, completely forgettable, but containing a wry acid and gentle tannin.  Good fruit.
