Not perfectly-clear ruby with clear edges. Quite a bit of sediment. Oily buttery deep fruit running so savory and rich alongside perfect brassy minerality, honey and bright acid. Smoky grittyness dominates and tells of things to come.
In the mouth, numbing acidity comes fast after an initial raspy that grows into shallow obfuscation of everything–including the fruit. A lovely wine–and a lovely food-accompaniment–but taken on its own quite mouth-gutting in its pure mineral mouth-feel. Barnyard plays a good part in playing down the viral acidity, but the teeth-wiping shrillness of it all makes for a rose-hips acerola dominance difficult to ignore over the classic Loire meatiness.
