Clouded ruby with wide pink edges. Massive dirty baby diaper funk greets the nose. It never completely dissipates, but allows all the tomato fuzz and beefsteak you can handle to get through with glossy shadow of garam masala on a wet sand base.
In the mouth, fruit starts off thin, cool and glassine, quickly taking cherry-strides into garden-hose territory and stupidly perfect wet concrete tannins. The funk in the bouquet is perfectly tied to the funk in the finish, bringing everything in full circle.
Now that’s what I call balance. And the reason this showed up on my Top Wines Of 2018 List.
